background
Amara was born in the 1st century B.C.E. on the first of Skirophoriōn (June). She was the fifth child of poor farmers and had four younger siblings whereas four of Amara’s siblings died within the first two years of their lives. The ground of her family’s properties was located near the mountain range of Hymettus, making it difficult to keep the yield from the fields high enough to provide for the family as the ground was rocky and uneven. At a very young age, Amara started to work in the fields along with her brothers and sisters. However, that still wasn’t enough to help gain enough money for the family even though Amara was a quick worker. Amara’s father was forced to give away Amara’s two older sisters to neighboring farmers at the foot of Hymettus who had higher-yielding fields in order to pay his debts. At the age of seven, Amara’s mother got pregnant with the tenth child and this time it was Amara who was given away to a befriended trader who had contacts in the capital.Amara was brought to Athens where she was supposed to work at the Acropolis of Athens in the temples. Her tasks included cleaning the temples and making sure the countless flowers were in impeccable condition. In return, she was provided with shelter and food. At the age of nine, she was taught as one of the High Priestess of Athena Polias’ handmaidens.Despite her origin, Amara was a graceful and delicate girl who learned quickly. One Day she caught the interest of Qetisyah’s father who was visiting the temples and was looking for a handmaiden who was Qetsiyah’s age.Initially, he had already talked with the head of another family regarding that matter but something about Amara made him change his mind.He made a high transfer fee for Amara to get her for Quetsiyah and an older handmaiden took Amara under her wing. She learned all the necessary things like cooking and weaving and surprisingly enough, she developed a friendship with the two years older Qetsiyah. Their relationship was friendly and familiar. Due to this bond, Amara was always treated well, even earning a little money. It was Qetsiyah who read poems to her and taught her more intellectual things while Amara helped to dress her and do her hair. When they were in private, Amara was also allowed to move more freely and didn’t have to cover her face and head.It was also because of Qetsiyah that Amara learned of the existence of magic. Amara never understood how it worked exactly and sometimes she was also scared of it, especially when it involved blood and dead animals. When they grew older, Qetsiyah eventually met a man named Silas with whom she wanted to become engaged. Qetsiyah wished to be alone with Silas, so it rarely happened that Amara was with her to serve wine or something to eat when they met. Nonetheless, and despite knowing better, Amara quickly fell deeply in love with Silas, although she knew she was in no position to harbor feelings for such a man as Silas. It conflicted with Amara because she knew it was a daydream and she knew of Qesiyah’s strong feelings as well.Surprisingly, however, Silas fell in love with Amara as well. They kept their relationship and love for each other a secret out of fear of being shunned because they were considered incompatible with regard to their social class and societal norms.Their love for each other was so strong, that Silas wanted to live forever with Amara, and began to desire a spell that would allow them to become immortal so they could be together for eternity. Silas manipulated Qetsiyah into creating an immortality spell by telling Qetsiyah that he didn’t ever want to be parted from her, not even by death. Qetsiyah agreed to create the spell, believing that she was the one with whom he wanted to share his immortal life.On the night Silas and Qetsiyah were meant to marry, he magically stole the immortality elixir that the two were supposed to consume after their vows, and instead drank the elixir with Amara in their tent in the woods, becoming the world’s first truly immortal man and woman. Feeling betrayed, Qetsiyah tracked Silas down and discovered Silas’ tent in the woods, which was Amara’s & Silas’ secret hiding place. Feeling angered, enraged, and betrayed by both Silas and Amara, Qetsiyah created a cure for immortality, which she revealed to Amara before desiccating her and faking her death. As punishment for her actions, Qetsiyah transformed Amara into the Anchor to the Other Side. For over 2,000 years, Amara felt the pain of each deceased supernatural being crossing over, and after her eventual release and short-lived reunion with Silas, Amara gladly welcomed death after she took the cure.Amara is fluent in countless languages because of her 2.000-year-old time as the anchor and her various (and at least singular) interactions with every supernatural being which passed. She doesn’t know much about the modern world, only the basics that she has heard from others. She cannot write and cannot read languages besides Ancient Greek but she’s about to learn English in some verses.Amara has suffered severe emotional, mental, and psychological trauma during her time as the Anchor which makes her extremely unstable. She has trust issues and sometimes can’t differentiate between real things and people or ghosts/things which aren’t really there. Apart from that, Amara also has an enormous pain tolerance.
verses
THE OTHER SIDE // GHOST WORLD.
Amara is the physical anchor for the Other Side which means she co-exists on both sides of the veil, giving her a physical foothold in both the living world and the Other Side, and allowing her to interact with the inhabitants of both planes. While Amara’s physical body is desiccated, making her unable to move, Amara’s spirit can freely roam through the Other Side. Amara feels every single supernatural death because as the anchor to the Other Side, all beings must pass through her after they die. Because of that, Amara is extremely unstable and jumpy as well as suspicious. It takes a very long time until she trusts a person enough.
tag: ❖ v: the anchor | amara IMMORTAL.
As an Immortal, Amara is immune to disease, age, and all forms of physical and magical death save for the Cure. She possesses the same advanced psychic abilities as Silas, but unlike Silas, she has no idea how to use them. Because of her long time as the Anchor and the Trauma which came with it, Amara sometimes has moments in which she appears (and is) extremely insane and unstable.
Sometimes those moments come out of nowhere, sometimes they are triggered by tight/small spaces. Amara feels bad for those moments and it usually takes her a lot of time to calm herself. Despite being one of the most powerful beings in the world, Amara tends to be jumpy and cautious. If she doesn’t have one of her bad moments, Amara is a soft and caring person.
She endures her immortality but wishes to become mortal again so that she can eventually die. That’s why she makes it her mission to find and get the cure, or find another way to remove the immortality from her.
tag: ❖ v: immortal | amara CURED.
After Amara consumed the cure for immortality through Silas’ blood, Amara became human again. Amara has suffered severe emotional, mental, and psychological trauma during her time as the Anchor and therefore wanted to die.
Unfortunately, that plan didn’t work out and she woke up in a hospital thanks to Elena Gilbert who convinced Damon to help her. Amara spent a long time in treatment in which different doctors who were compelled by Elena, tried to help Amara through her trauma.
Of course, that was only halfway successful because two years of therapy can’t make up 2.000 years of pain.
However, Amara learned how to deal with it and her ‘dropouts’ which are also successful most of the time. She has no idea how the real world works but she is good and quick in finding it out. Despite speaking countless languages fluently because of her long time as the Anchor and her interactions with countless ghosts, Amara cannot read or write anything apart from Ancient Greek but she started to learn how to write and read in English during her stay at the hospital.
Amara is still in outpatient treatment after she was allowed to leave the hospital. Despite initially hating Elena for her intervention and preventing her from dying, Amara’s now grateful to her. Nonetheless, she stays highly suspicious of any supernatural being, especially witches.
tag: ❖ v: cured of immortality | amara AMNESIAC.
After Amara consumed the cure and therefore became mortal again, the trauma she went through the past two thousand years was too much for her to handle.
The memories, the still present physical pain as well as the (to her) unknown modern world were so distressing that her mind chose to forget rather than deal with the stress.
Amara suffers from a mixture of dissociative amnesia, which occurs when the person forgets an event that has deeply disturbed them, and retrograde amnesia often referred to as psychogenic amnesia or psychogenic fugue, which often occurs due to a traumatic situation that individuals wish to consciously or unconsciously avoid through intrapsychic conflicts or unconscious repressions.

headcanons
Amara's Death (Ancient Greece). When Qetsiyah showed that heart to Silas and told him that Amara was dead, it was actually Amara’s heart. Qetsiyah ripped it out of Amara’s chest, fully knowing that she cannot die because of it. On the contrary, she made sure that Amara witnessed the whole process as the first act of her revenge. Qetsiah later desiccated Amara’s (temporarily) dead body and used a spell to fossilize her before she was hidden in a cave. Children. Amara never had a child. I’m going with the explanation of season 5 that Amara and Silas will have doppelgängers because nature always finds balance. The doppelgänger bloodline isn’t a direct bloodline that passes from mother to daughter. It can jump between the meanwhile countless branches that are somehow connected to Amara. Hair. Amara has the type 1C hair. Type 1C hair tends to appear still predominately straight but has a subtle body to it with ends that tend to curl inward toward the chin. Because of the coarse texture, type 1C hair tends to be more susceptible to frizz and flyaways. Scars. Amara has three scars - one on her wrist, one on her belly, and a smaller, almost unnoticeable one on her neck. The Cure. The cure was partly made out of Amara’s blood as it needed a component of the immortal being Qetsiyah had created. If one were to re-create the cure, one would need the original’s (aka Amara’s or Silas’s) blood.
background
Diana was born in Norway in 977 a.d. as the child of Dahlia and Alexander, who was a warlock. Diana wasn’t a child of love. Originally, Dahlia never wanted a family, but the thought of creating her own powerful bloodline was way too tempting, especially after Dahlia discovered the immense power of her niece Freya when she was still just a little baby. dahlia gave birth to Diana a few weeks before she claimed Freya. However, Diana wasn’t raised by her mother but given in care to a young married couple who owed Dahlia a favor. Dahlia didn’t want to care for a newborn, she rather concentrated on Freya. The couple lived in the same village, so Dahlia was always informed about Diana.Dahlia could sense the strong magic in her daughter after she was born, therefore she made Diana a bracelet that should absorb her powers in order to protect her from any harm. However, when Alexander found out about having a daughter (and knowing that Dahlia had deceived him), he tried to get his daughter back as she was also the heir of his bloodline. He also realized that Dahlia couldn’t be trusted and probably is going to use Diana to get more power. When he tried to sneak into the home of Diana’s foster parents, he was ambushed and killed by Dahlia who had sensed his magic and feared he could take Diana away. When Diana was 5 years old, Dahlia took her back and integrated her into her household. That was also the first time she got to know Freya, whom she only had seen every once in a while. Diana looked up to Freya and adored Dahlia because she was able to sense the magical family bond. This impressed Dahlia and she believed that her own child held powerful magic as well, even though she wasn’t the firstborn witch of her generation but only the third child of their generation. However, when Dahlia took off Diana’s bracelet which should suppress Diana’s power, she was shocked. Not able to sense the powerful magic within her child as she had expected, she fanatically searched for the reason for her daughter’s loss of power. It didn’t take long until she found out that Diana had been cursed by Alexander’s ancestors in order to make Dahlia pay, resulting in Diana having only an average power of magic left. This enraged Dahlia so much that she sought revenge and burned down Alexander’s home village, leaving nothing more than dust and ashes. It was also the turning point in Diana’s life. Dahlia tried very hard to reverse the curse which lay upon her daughter but when her efforts weren't successful she focused all her attention back on Freya. She still continued to teach Diana, which was very stressful for her as Dahlia was very impatient. However, she treated her with a little bit more care than Freya. Even though Diana was a quick learner and really skilled, she couldn’t live up to her mother’s expectations, especially because she wasn’t as powerful as she should be. Strong spells weakened her quicker than they should and especially compared to Freya she seemed to be just a weak shadow of what she was supposed to be.This led to Diana feeling like a failure and caused her to develop anxieties. She tried everything to please her mother, but compared to Freya -who was everything that Dahlia wanted to see in her too- her efforts were unseen. That’s why she developed a strong sense of optimism - she tried to appreciate every bit of attention and positive feelings she got from her mother.Despite being always compared to Freya, she loves her. She thought of her as her older sister, not knowing about having an aunt and cousins. She didn’t envy Freya for all the attention she got from her mother, knowing that Freya had to endure much more than her. In fact, she always tried to cheer Freya up. When she was sent into the woods to collect herbs, she always brought Freya her favorite flowers. She was often away collecting herbs or buying things on the market, so she didn’t really witness Dahlia’s rougher side, especially towards Freya. When Dahlia performed the sleeping spell, it included Diana as well. She accepted her fate and never tried to run away from Dahlia, hoping that one day her love will be returned and she can be the daughter Dahlia so desperately wanted. Diana believed it was her fault Dahlia is the way she is and would do almost everything for her mother although she highly disapproves of the cruel things Dahlia had done.Despite not being there, she felt her mother’s death. She had a feeling it would happen. She doesn’t hold a grudge against those who took a part in her death as she believes that her mother is a very powerful witch who could not be defeated until she wishes to.Like her mother, Diana can sense magic in others. It’s an ability she possesses since she was a little child and which also grew stronger over time. Diana is a friendly and caring person although she sometimes feels lost in the modern world. She mostly keeps to herself (a result of her anxieties) and is cautious with her feelings and story. Diana loves Freya more than anything but is highly intimidated by the rest of the Mikaelsons.
She loves flowers and plants and works in a flower shop in order to make a living for herself.
headcanons
Alcohol. Diana has never come in contact with alcohol until Dahlia’s death in the 21st century. She doesn’t like the burning and partly bitter taste of it and prefers sweeter things. Because she doesn’t really drink any alcohol, her tolerance is a joke and she easily gets drunk. Near Death Experiences. Dahlia is both the reason why Diana nearly died multiple times and why she’s still alive. A vicious cycle. Dahlia bound Diana to her and Freya when Diana was twelve years old. Dahlia waited longer to do it because of Diana’s lack of power. Once the spell was done, Dahlia also channeled Diana even though the spells usually were too powerful for Diana. If Diana hadn’t been bound to Dahlia & Freya, she would have often died of exhaustion. Jobs. Diana jobs as a florist. She loves flowers (and they always look super fresh even after one or two days thanks to magic) and for her, it’s relaxing to arrange the flowers. It’s also her way of earning money because she doesn’t want to ask her cousins for money and she would never sell her magic. She wants to study psychology because she’s interested in the human psyche and she wants to help people who suffer from psychic traumas or loss. A part of her wants to do it because she couldn’t help her mother and diana suffered as well. She knows how important it is for people to have someone they can turn to when they feel bad and she wants to be that person. She wants to do something good. Vampires. Diana grew up being taught that vampires are an abomination of nature who are bloodthirsty monsters (because Dahlia hated what Esther did to her children as it prevented their witch line to continue). It took a few centuries (because of the sleeping spell and Diana’s rigid upbringing) until Diana came in contact with a vampire for the first time. Unfortunately, that vampire was a ‘wild’ one, looking for someone to feed on which only confirmed Dahlia’s warning & her opinion of them. That’s why Diana is mistrustful & careful around vampires she doesn’t know and tries to avoid them. This also applies to the original family who she finds highly intimidating.
background
Born in the Kingdom of Norway in 977, Tatia is descended from a family of Vikings. She married her first love Eric Bjørnson at the age of 19 and gave birth to their daughter Linnea Ericdóttir nine months later. The village in which Tatia lived was often under attack due to hostile tribes and it also made it necessary that Eric was often away and fighting. When news reached Eric about a land beyond the seas where the natives were all healthy and blessed with gifts of speed and strength, the family chose to re-locate in hopes of better protection and a more peaceful life.In 998, however, three weeks before the family planned to board the ship sailing to the New World, Eric was badly wounded in a fight and returned only with the help of friends. Despite Tatia’s sacrificial care, he died three days later. In the area in which Tatia lived she was expected to throw herself on her dead husband's funeral pyre. However, she decided to live, move on and raise her daughter hence why she follow their initial plans of setting over to the New World along with another family of her village.Tatia ultimately settled down near the village later known as Mystic Falls and raised her daughter there. Eventually, she met the Mikaelson family as she was close to Esther who offered her help to the young widow living alone in a hut in a very small hamlet outside the actual village.Elijah and Niklaus Mikaelson both fell in love with her. However, she ultimately only fell in love with Elijah and she chose him over his younger half-brother. Esther, who long had recognized Tatia's special distinctive feature shortly after meeting her, was keen on keeping Tatia around. Esther was more than delighted when Tatia choose Elijah and told her that she already considers her family. After Henrik's death, Esther used her good connection with Tatia to ask her for a favor that included donating some of her blood so that she could protect their family. Tatia agreed, only wanting to help Esther. By that time, Tatia was aware that Esther was a witch but she didn't expect her to create monsters with her blood.Since Tatia, along with her daughter, didn't live directly in the village, she didn't witness and knew what Esther had exactly done to Mikael and their children, resulting in her being unaware of their blood lust. She did notice, however, that Elijah was acting differently and seemed to be restless. Curious about what happened, she followed Elijah secretly into the woods one day to find out what afflicted him.To her great horror, Tatia saw Elijah with Klaus between torn bodies and noticed the blood on Klaus. She ran away in fear which was noticed by Elijah who followed her. While fleeing, Tatia tripped and cut her hand badly in the process. Tatia was afraid of Elijah who in turn was hurt by Tatia's reaction, claiming that he was still the same man. Unfortunately, in the middle of his pleas, Elijah caught the scent of Tatia's blood. Tatia, relazing the starting change in Elijah's face, slapped him across the face with her injured hand in hopes of defending herself and forcing him to come to his senses, but Elijah only became more hurt and insisted that he would never harm her. He could, however, not control his bloodlust for long and urged Tatia to run which she did albeit Elijah couldn't hold back for long and instinctively used his vampire speed to catch up to her before being overcome by his hunger and feeding on her neck until she passed out.Eventually, Elijah came back to his senses and realized what he had done and immediately brought her to Esther in hopes that she could save her. However, Tatia was already dead, and so Esther, feeling guilty for her role in Elijah's bloodlust, assured him that she would take care of it.Esther used the remaining blood in Tatia's dead body for her spell to bind Klaus' werewolf side.
verses
Main.
Tatia was resurrected after Klaus broke his curse in TVD S2 and became a hybrid, as a means to create a loophole. She was revived to provide the universe with a human doppelgänger capable of binding Klaus' hybrid side again since Elena had technically died (and furthermore with vampire blood in her system), and Katherine was already a vampire. Nature decided to revive Tatia, since it had been her blood that started vampires. Tatia's renewed life is bound to Klaus's downfall. As soon as his hybrid side doesn't exist anymore, she will die again. Tatia's blood is not capable of creating new hybrids. In fact, Tatia's blood achieves the opposite and binds a vampire's side.
Tatia is not entirely aware of her 'mission'.

Set during the Viking Age. Tatia is a widow trying to raise her daughter in the New World. Eventually, she meets Esther and her children.
❖ v: viking age | tatia Vampire.
When Tatia slapped her bleeding hand across Elijah's face, she actually hit him hard enough to split his lips. Unbeknownst to both of them (as Elijah healed almost immediately), this caused Elijah to bleed and this tiny amount of blood mingled with Tatia's open wound. Tatia died with Elijah's blood in her system. She woke up 24 hours later, already being inconspicuously buried by Esther in the depths of the surrounding woods. Tatia, being buried alive, clawed her way out of the earth, something which traumatized her even further and let her be afraid of tight spaces. She was confused and scared but somehow found her way home to her daughter. Tatia grew weaker over time and didn't know what was happening to her. She hugged her daughter the entire time while it was getting harder for her to stay awake. Tatia completed her transformation due to another accidental coincidence when her daughter cut herself on the pointed jewelry around Tatia's wrist. She tiredly wanted to kiss it better which caused her to complete the transition before Tatia fell asleep.
Tatia did awake again and after noticing that she craved blood, she was horrified with herself. Not wanting to leave her daughter behind nor wanting to risk she hurting her, Tatia worked hard on herself and became very disciplined. Tatia and Linnea moved away from Mystic Falls, and she continued to raise Linnea and watch over her. Later, Tatia continued to watch over Linnea's descendants. Since then, Tatia lives very secluded and avoids witches as well as vampires. Tatia never overcame the trauma caused by Elijah and being buried alive but is overall a feisty, strong, and independent woman.

Doppelgänger. I follow the canon Season 5 gave us. There's no doppelgänger every 500 years (which doesn't even make sense because there aren't exactly 500 years between Katherine & Elena). Nature needs balance, therefore there's always a doppelgänger somewhere on this planet as long as Amara was immortal. The doppelgänger line is also no direct line. They're all just somehow linked to Amara & her relatives. The last doppelgänger isn’t Elena but a girl that was conceived in 2010 after Elena died because Katherine was still a vampire during that time & Amara was still alive. Despite the explanation on the show, doppelgängers aren't 'forced' to find and fall in love with each other.
Tatia is also not the first doppelgänger. However, she was the first doppelgänger that has been recognized as one (by Esther) and which had a huge impact on the world (as it was her blood that was used to create the first vampires). Hair. Tatia has a mix of type 2B and type 2C hair. Tatia's wave pattern starts at the roots and forms a soft S-shape wave toward the mid-lengths to ends. Petrova. Tatia is not a Petrova. The Petrova family name belongs exclusively to Katherine Pierce aka Katerina Petrova. To the Mikaelsons (the ones who started the hunt for the next doppelgänger) Tatia was the original and Katherine was her doppelgänger, hence why the doppelgängers got known as the Petrova doppelgänger.
